What is telehealth?

Telehealth can make it easier for people to access services. Telehealth is the use of communications technology to connect a health provider and patient using phone or videoconferencing. Medicare item numbers are available to support a number of services to be delivered by telehealth and many health providers are increasing their use of telehealth.

Telehealth Hubs

A Telehealth Hub is a central location available for community members, health providers and other service providers to access telehealth technology and to receive services that are not available locally.

Northern Queensland PHN is partnering with community organisations to provide Telehealth Hubs in rural communities, where community members, health professionals and other service providers can access telehealth services. Your service provider can book an appointment at the Telehealth Hub for you, and the staff there will help you to connect.  Telehealth Hubs are available in the following locations:
